Client  →  Friends, Sweden

Friends is a non-profit organisation, dedicated to the prevention of bullying in schools across Sweden. I truly believe the work Friends do for kids, makes a genuine difference in their lifes. Their vision is to see young children and adolescents grow up in a safe and secure environment. Their tailored programs for schools make that vision a reality.
I had a personal big interest in the project since I could empathise with the kids, and see the importance of organisations like Friends.Friends has a 3-year contract with each school and before the program begins they conduct a survey to customise their training accordingly. The first year consists of 14 days of lectures and workshops with students and school staff collectively. They do follow-ups in the rest of the 2 years to check their progress and intervene when needed.

The Brief

Make their training process more efficient using a digital tool so they can focus on conducting workshops instead of giving purely theoretical lectures and enable them to customise training material for each school.

Core problem was the lack of engagement from the teachers.

Pain Points

Key problems were collected after analysing the research; studying the training process on a deeper level, interviewing both new and previous users, and attending the workshops. Personas were created to cluster different behaviours and attitudes to understand the needs better.

1. Too much preparation

Too much time is spent on preparatory lectures for the workshops that the actual workshops themselves.

2. Stressful
Schedules

Teachers are already overworked and find it hard to keep up with the training.

3. Ineffective
Follow-Ups

Tracking the school's progress becomes tricky when surveys are taken lightly due to lack of teacher's motivation.

4. Digital
Literacy

Not all teachers are comfortable with digital tools and they don't want to resort to confusing applications.

Rapid sketching

Key features were sketched out after collecting insights from the research. This was a vital part of the ideation process. Wireframes were designed iteratively on paper before proceeding to the digital prototype.

Prototyping &

User Testing

Clickable prototypes went through several rounds of user testing before the interface design was fully finished. This gave clarity on what was lacking and out of context since the idea was to make it intuitive and simple.

Solution

World of Friends - To package the training digitally that will not only motivate the teachers to participate in the program, but also equip them with tools and exercises to help them handle sensitive issues in their class.

The World Of Friends

School Code Login
Via Magic LinkTeachers can log-in with their school codes to access the platform. This way the registered school teachers get a passwordless access to the platform via a magic link using Auth0; a token based authentication tool.

Dashboard Timelines
The dashboard shows a list of all the upcoming events and tasks to be done. This way the teachers can keep track of their progress and get all the necessary content in one place.
